Demand for car sharing service gains momentum at The Archive

Six months after launching at  The Archive in Southbank, the community’s shared Polestar 2 is continuing to gain traction, with resident memberships increasing by 38 per cent month-on-month and trips rising by 23 per cent.

Delivered in partnership with Ollo, the service provides residents with on-demand access to an electric vehicle, offering a flexible alternative to traditional car ownership.

The Archive’s Polestar 2 is fully electric, with advanced tech for entertainment and safety, five seats in premium leather, large boot space and so much more.

This car share perk is just part of life at The Archive – available for use at any time and is bookable for the exclusive use of The Archive residents through the Ollo app.

The growth reflects changing attitudes towards mobility among apartment residents, particularly in well-connected inner-city locations where convenience, flexibility and sustainability are increasingly influencing how people choose to live.

CDL Australia Development Manager Federico Keil said the growing uptake reflected the lifestyle preferences of many residents choosing to live at The Archive.

“One of the advantages of living at The Archive is having access to public transport, employment hubs, retail and hospitality venues within walking distance, which means residents don’t necessarily need a car for their day-to-day lives,” he said.

“At the same time, there are occasions when having access to a vehicle is convenient, whether that’s a weekend trip, visiting family or running errands further afield.”

“The increasing use of the shared mobility service demonstrates the value of providing residents with access to a car when they need one, without the costs and commitments associated with owning a vehicle that’s parked most of the time.”

The Archive, CDL Australia’s first Australian build-to-rent community, was designed around this shift in resident expectations. Alongside a range of wellness, work and social amenities, the shared mobility offering provides residents with access to transport when required, without the ongoing costs and responsibilities associated with vehicle ownership.

The latest usage figures suggest residents are increasingly embracing the model, with demand continuing to grow as more people move into the community.

As build-to-rent continues to mature in Australia, integrated mobility solutions are becoming an important part of the resident experience, complementing broader efforts to create connected, service-led communities that support modern urban lifestyles.
