Reflecting on a milestone packed 2024

As 2024 comes to a close, CDL Australia is reflecting on a landmark year, with a record five projects under construction and significant progress across the board. This year has underscored our commitment to delivering high-quality, thoughtfully designed projects that set new benchmarks for modern living.

Here’s a look at the milestones and progress that made 2024 our busiest and most impactful year yet.

Treetops Kenmore nearing completion

Progress has been steady at Treetops Kenmore, a unique development designed to harmonise modern living with its lush, leafy surroundings. Set in Brisbane’s western suburbs, this community is nearing completion, with construction teams and partners making great strides throughout the year.

“Our aim with Treetops Kenmore has always been to create a community that integrates seamlessly with its natural environment,” said Cameron Laird, CDL Australia’s Head of Business Development and Investment.

“Seeing this vision come to life is incredibly rewarding, and we’re looking forward to welcoming residents in 2025.”

Brickworks Park: Revitalising heritage

Brickworks Park continues to transform its historical location into a vibrant urban community. Designed to celebrate its industrial heritage while offering contemporary living spaces, the development reached several key construction milestones in 2024.

Its sustainable and community-focused approach has garnered widespread interest and industry recognition, cementing Brickworks Park as one of our standout projects.

Designed by Rothelowman, this new neighbourhood in one of Brisbane’s most liveable suburbs is a showcase of urban renewal, located just 5 kilometres from the CBD.

Fitzroy Fitzroy: Vibrant progress in Melbourne

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s vibrant Fitzroy, the Fitzroy Fitzroy project has made exceptional progress this year. A boutique residential project, it combines thoughtful design and premium finishes, with construction now well advanced.

This mixed-use development, a joint venture between CDL Australia, Chapter Group, and Crema Group, will feature 53 high-end apartments, 5 luxury town homes, and commercial spaces, all while retaining the heritage façade of the former MacRobertson Steam Confectionery Works.

The project celebrates the rich cultural identity of Fitzroy, with a rooftop garden and the exclusive ‘Smith Club’ for residents.

“It’s been a standout year for Fitzroy Fitzroy,” Cameron said. “The project is a testament to our strong partnerships and our commitment to creating spaces that resonate with the surrounding culture and community – and the unique character of this iconic Melbourne suburb.”

Normanby Rd: A landmark in South Melbourne

Also in Melbourne, Normanby Rd has seen significant advancements, bringing its striking architectural vision closer to reality. Located just two kilometres from the CBD in the Fishermans Bend precinct, the project will feature 237 build-to-rent (BTR) apartments. Designed by Hayball Architects and built by Crema Constructions, the development promises to set a new standard in contemporary living, recognisable by the distinctive arches on the facade.

As CDL Australia’s first BTR project, this development highlights our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable communities in vital urban renewal areas.

“Normanby Rd exemplifies our approach to integrating modern design with vibrant urban locations,” Cameron said. “The progress here highlights the tireless efforts of our teams and partners.”

Planned amenities include a fully equipped gym, wellness area, podcast rooms, private cinema and co-working spaces.

Waterbrook Bowral: Redefining retirement living

Waterbrook Bowral, CDL’s first foray into luxury retirement living, has enjoyed a successful year of construction activity on the first phase of 76 villas.

With interiors by Lorena Gaxiola and construction led by Kuatro Build, the project has achieved numerous milestones in 2024, including the completion of key resort-style amenities.

“Waterbrook Bowral is shaping up to be a truly exceptional community, blending contemporary luxury with the charm of its historic setting,” Cameron said. “The demand for premium retirement living continues to grow, and we’re proud to set a new benchmark in this space.”

Looking ahead to 2025

Reflecting on CDL Australia’s busiest year yet, Cameron Laird is excited for what’s to come in the new year.

“This year, we’ve seen remarkable progress across all our projects, thanks to the hard work of our teams and the strength of our partnerships. With Treetops Kenmore nearing completion and exciting milestones ahead for our other developments, 2025 is set to build on this momentum.”

As we look to the future, CDL Australia is excited to be delivering well-located and innovative projects that enhance the way people live, work and connect.
