First stages of Waterbrook Bowral almost complete

CDL Australia’s first luxury retirement community – Waterbrook Bowral – is set to welcome its first residents before the end of this year, with the third stage of residences set to be released in early 2025.

Waterbrook Bowral is a stunning resort-style community located in the picturesque NSW Southern Highlands, offering residents the ultimate in prestigious and comfortable retirement living.

Construction of the first two stages is well advanced, including the refurbishment and re-purposing of historic school buildings on the site, which will house many of the community’s extensive resident amenities.

CDL Australia has partnered with experienced retirement village developer and operator Waterbrook Resorts to deliver the Bowral project. International architectural firm Marchese Partners has designed the community with interiors by award-winning Sydney designer Lorena Gaxiola.

Head of Australia, Cameron Laird, said the group’s move into the retirement living sector was a natural fit with its strategy of delivering world-class and sustainable residential projects in sought-after locations.

“The ageing population means there is a vital need to increase the supply of age appropriate housing so we see a strong opportunity to participate in the delivery of retirement living communities,” he said.

“Bowral is recognised as the heart of the NSW Southern Highlands, only 90 minutes from Sydney and the gateway to beautiful country villages, rich food and wine experiences, and scenic national parks.

“Waterbrook Bowral has been very well received by the market and will likely set a new standard of luxury living for the region, which has long been a popular destination for retirees.”

Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows the 75-79 age group is the fastest growing demographic and is expected to increase from 2 million people now to around 3.4 million by 2040.

The Retirement Living Council says the industry will need to build 67,000 homes between now and 2030 just to meet the current level of demand.
