In a world-leading move for City Developments Limited (CDL), occupants of its flagship office building, Republic Plaza in Singapore, are now able to “call” for the building’s lifts from their mobile phones.
Workers will simply type in their start and destination floors on an app on their phones, and the wonders of modern technology will take care of the rest.
The technology means people don’t have to press any buttons or even touch any part of a lift, and comes at a time when the world is still grappling with ways to overcome COVID-19.
In Singapore, workers are preparing to return to their offices as the city looks to ease some of its restrictions.
Another benefit is an expected reduction in wait times at the Plaza’s lift lobbies.
The technology involves pairing CDL’s smart building app CityNexus with the Otis eCall Application Programming Interface.
Sixty-six storeys high, Republic Plaza is a cutting-edge development and one of the tallest buildings in Singapore.
Located at Raffles Place in the heart of the Central Business District, Republic Plaza features direct access to the Raffles Place MRT station via a pedestrian tunnel.
A smart building phone app has been designed exclusively for its occupants and is among a range of measures helping to protect workers.
These also include a “Disinfection Robot” located in high traffic areas such as lift lobbies after hours, emitting UV-C rays to block 99.9 per cent of bacteria and viruses in the environment and on high touch surfaces.
