Applications now open for Queensland’s first home owner grant

Home ownership is now on the horizon for many first home owners in Queensland, with applications open for grants up to $30,000.

The grant applies to Queenslanders buying their first new home valued under $750,000 and can include apartments and town homes.

The incentive is set to provide a helping hand to first home buyers looking to secure a home and stimulate growth in the state’s construction sector.

Grant recipients must meet strict criteria including: no previous home ownership or investment properties, recipients must be an Australian citizen, or a permanent resident, (or applying with someone who is), and must move into their home within 1 year of the completed transaction and live there for 6 months.

In late 2023, the Queensland Government doubled the first home owner grant from the previous $15,000 to $30,000 for new builds in the period up until 30 June 2025.

CDL Australia’s Head of Australia, Cameron Laird, “the current property market in Queensland is highly competitive and property prices continue to rise, which presents a challenge for many first home buyers.”

“We know first home buyers don’t want to compromise by purchasing an established home so this increase in this grant will provide more people to get a foot on the property ladder.”

Unit values in Brisbane have continued to grow with Corelogic data showing an increase of 1.2% month-on-month from 31 December, exceeding Perth, Hobart and Canberra.

CDL Australia currently has two build-to-sell projects in Brisbane, Brickworks Park at Alderley and Treetops in Kenmore, construction is well underway for both projects.

Stage 1 of Treetops Kenmore is now complete with Stage 2 progressing well and only a select few town homes remain for sale. Nestled in the sought-after suburb of Kenmore, the project will include 96 contemporary town homes, each offering a luxurious four-bedrooms and double garage.

Stage 1 of Brickworks Park is almost sold-out, with just one apartment remaining and construction well under way at the historic Brickworks site. Once complete, the project will offer 107 apartments and 68 townhouses, with resort-style amenities.

Backed by world leaders in sustainable construction, CDL Australia has a strong presence in the eastern states of Australia, undertaking both joint ventures and wholly owned projects.
